Kym Ellery’s wardrobe in her Paris home s the definition of “cool” where tailoring, exaggerated silhouettes and a classic handbag prove that good style isn’t always about making a colourful statement. Her highly-anticipated Witchery collection is the perfect chance to “shop” her wardrobe with delicate, stackable jewels; lace blouses; and musthave blazers that will see you through autumn/ winter and beyond. Her love of vintage pieces and French styling is reflected in this collection.

How would you describe your personal style? My personal style in Paris is all about a wardrobe of classic pieces with a twist. I adore tailoring. I think there is nothing more slick than a well-cut suit or polished pair of pants. When I put them on I feel a sense that I can achieve anything. I also love small details like curated sets of earrings, mismatched together and a classic handbag that’s not too big but can fit my essentials.

Has your style changed over the years? There is more of a focus on daily comfort since living here so excess cashmere has entered my wardrobe. Although the fashion capital of the world, Parisians are very conservative when it comes to style.

Who are your style icons?

Chloë Sevigny, Josephine Baker and Tommy Dorfman. Incredibly cool, super contemporary and always true to themselves – the most stylish quality of all.

What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe? I do love vintage. I have a beautiful handembroidered piece that I acquired in London, a shawl with tassel fringing.

Must have accessory?

Well-cut black pants and the perfect cocktail dress.

Have you ever made a style faux pas?

My mother used to tell me off for wearing a top with my bra straps showing. Sometimes it can work but she is mostly right there.

What’s surprising about your wardrobe? How big it is. I find it hard to separate from the pieces that I love and have created, there are so many. So, after 15 years, the sheer size of my wardrobe can really shock some people.

Most you’ve spent on an outfit? I have spent my life creating outfits so those that I have made cost me a lot of my precious time, and I loved every moment.

Top three wardrobe must haves? A black cocktail dress, the perfect handbag that matches all of your looks and something fun that makes you happy.

Favourite piece from Witchery Ellery collection?

I love the embroidered linen pieces, especially the ivory blouse with the voluminous sleeves.

Most sentimental item in your wardrobe? The Margiela Tabi boots that my friend Eva Galambos gave me for my birthday.

What if money was no object?

I would cure world hunger and then buy the entire Maison Margiela archive.

Summer or winter fashion?

Winter, I love to layer and coats are my spirit animal.

Denim or dresses? Denim.
