Strategic adviser/ mentor and swimwear designer, 37

- Fashion editor ANNABEL FALCO

Now this is a closet tour. Welcome to the wardrobe of the incredibly cool Erin Deering where every stylish turn serves as inspiration. From Balenciaga gumboots and “rock star” sunglasses through to an extensive vintage collection of Chanel 2.55 bags, Erin’s wardrobe makes the daily styling process fun. In true fashionista style, Erin claims to put effort into every outfit and hopes to one day install a functioning office from her closet. I’ll happily rent office space here … especially if it includes samples of her muchhyped “healing beauty mask”.

How would you describe your personal style? Not effortless. I really get a tonne of joy out of dressing, it’s a real expression for me. I am getting better at choosing outfits that make me feel really good. If I had to define my style, I’d say

I am refined, but with an edge.

Who are your style icons? Pernille Teisbaek because she wears luxury items with a level of careful consideration. Morgan Stewart because she’s fun and loves fashion the way I do. Arielle Charnas for the same reason as Morgan. Leandra Medine Cohen for providing the most interesting context to her choices. Poppy Lissiman and Harrison Kennedy, the coolest and most interesting couple I know. My younger brother, who has the most considered wardrobe.

What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe? My first thought was all my Bonds undies that I am fiercely loyal to.

What are your favourite brands? Balenciaga is my favourite luxury brand. Christopher Esber cannot do a thing wrong and I want every piece of Magda Butrym!

What’s the most you have spent on an outfit? I don’t buy outfits for events. I buy (a lot) for daily use, and it’s how I love to shop – whenever the feeling is there,

I go for it.

What is the most surprising thing about your wardrobe? We just moved and plan to renovate and I will put my home office in my wardrobe as it’s my happy place.

Top three wardrobe must haves? A perfectly fitting, well-made black blazer in a great fabric. A pair of sunglasses that make you feel like a rock star. A pair of boots suitable for every season. Probably ankle, pointed toe.

What is the most sentimental item in your wardrobe?

My Lucy Folk engagement rings from my soon-to-be husband.

How many pairs of shoes do you own? I’ve never counted, but I’m going to say well over 100. Yikes.

Best designer fashion purchase this year? I love my knee-high Balenciaga Cagole Boots that Gab Waller sourced for me.

Best bargain fashion purchase this year? I’m an op shopper at heart and I’ve had some good vintage Levi’s luck this year!

Three beauty products you can’t live without? I see the most incredible facialist, Mary from Hands of Mine. She has formulated a Healing Mask and I buy it for everyone, it’s pure magic! A good cream bronzing stick to give some colour to my lifeless winter face and follow up with a cream blush for some extra “good” feels.
