FUTURE PLANS

-

I own a petrol 2008 Mitsubishi Triton dualcab ute. I’d like to replace it with a similar dual-cab, preferably a hybrid as most of my trips are only 10-15km long. What’s available as there’s only diesel Tritons now? Denis Purcell, email

There’s currently no hybrid, plug-in or electric dual-cab utes available in Australia. They’re coming, but no dates are confirmed. I’d expect a Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger hybrid/plug-in by 2023, and a Triton hybrid by 2024. There’s a chance the first all-electric ute here could be a battery-powered LDV T60 from China – with 325km range – as soon as late this year.
