WINNERS ARE GRINNERS

-

TASMANIA’S peak real estate body has recognised the year’s outstanding achievers at a gala event in Hobart.

The Real Estate Institute of Tasmania held its 2021 Awards for Excellence at Wrest Point Casino with the REIT Board and staff congratulating the winners in what has been a year to remember.

Newly elected REIT president Michael Walsh said winners came from all over the state this year, which is “always a great outcome”.

Harcourts Launceston director Jeremy Wilkinson took home the coveted Residential Salesperson of the Year award; a prize he is no stranger to.

“I haven’t won this award for six years but have won it six times previously in my 20 year career,” he said.

“I was totally shocked and really didn’t think I had a chance with the super strong competition this year to the degree that I hadn’t even thought about a speech.

“But that was probably a good thing as my speech was from the heart.”

While the salesperson award is an individual category, Mr Wilkinson believes it is also a reflection of the hard work, dedication and skill of his staff.

“It’s 100 per cent all about the people you have around you and I couldn’t do it without my direct team Sharon Fenton and Conall Cassidy and the rest of the Harcourts Launceston crew,” he said.

“Our market is honestly amazing at present.

“We are achieving some brilliant results for our clients.

“Although, contrary to belief, stock levels are at historically low levels and it’s very difficult for all of us to secure new properties.”

In the south, Knight Frank scooped the pool with multiple wins in the commercial real estate categories.

Harcourts Huon Valley was awarded the year’s prize for innovation and the best medium size agency of the year for residential.

First National Kingston won the small agency category while PRD Hobart took home the large agency prize alongside another in the business development manager category.
