and prance, sexy ladies — you can get up close and personal with boombastic Jamaican dancehall and reggae star Shaggy in Hobart next week.

Shaggy ( first exploded on to the scene back in 1993 with his debut album with the single — a dancehall remake of an old ska classic — becoming a top-five hit. Party favourite

and a duet with Maxi Priest, quickly followed, before Shaggy released his Grammywinn­ing, platinum-selling second album in 1995.

Shaggy’s fourth album went six-times platinum in the US thanks to the singles (featuring Janet Jackson), mash-up of Steve Miller’s and Juice Newton’s hit

and which was nominated for a Grammy and became one of Shaggy’s signature hits.

(2002) went gold in the US, with the single making the mainstream top

(2007) were both nominated for Best Reggae Album at the Grammys.

After spending four years concentrat­ing on touring and philanthro­pic pursuits, Shaggy returned in 2011 with his 10th album

He then teamed up with production duo Sly & Robbie to work on his latest album

which was released in 2013 and featured the single

Shaggy is performing highlights from on his first truly national Australian tour, alongside all his hits including

“I enjoy touring and I spend most of my time doing that,” Shaggy says.

“I like getting in front of an audience and having that personal and intimate connection with fans.”
