COLOURS FOR A CAUSE

LADY CHARGERS GO PINK

- SIMEON THOMAS-WILSON

THE Lady Chargers are hoping the crowd at the Hobart Sports and Netball Centre will be tickled pink in more ways than one tomorrow night.

Last round was the Pink Round for the SEABL, to support breast cancer awareness, but the Lady Chargers were on the road at Launceston.

Determined to do their bit for the cause, tomorrow night the Lady Chargers will host their own pink round.

“Last week was the Pink Round, but we were in Lonnie so we decided we wanted to support awareness around this terrible disease and just get the community around it,” Lady Chargers star Kathleen Scheer said. “It’s [tomorrow night] called Who Do You Play For, we’ll be wearing shirts as a team and we want the crowd to wear their pink and be as loud and obnoxious as possible.

“There will be a half-time shootout, face painting and we’ll have a gold-coin donation and other donations during the night.”

While there will be fun for the fans, it will be serious bus- iness on the court for the Lady Chargers when they host Canberra, especially after losing to rival Launceston last time out.

The Lady Chargers gave up a 20-point lead early in the match last week and despite rallying, it proved to be too much as they suffered their second loss of the season.

Scheer said the players know how they can make sure that doesn’t happen again.

“We just came out really slow,” she said.

The tip-off for the Lady Chargers v Canberra game is at 6pm.
