NO REST FOR BOSCOTT

- KYLE WISNIEWSKI

HIS season has caught the eye of AFL clubs, but Lauderdale ace Thor Boscott is battling an injury concern during a major part of his team’s season and his career.

Injury couldn’t come at a worse time for Boscott, with AFL clubs looking at him and his team trying to maintain a top-three position.

Boscott is likely to play against Burnie at West Park tomorrow, even though he is wrestling with calf soreness, but Lauderdale is keeping a close eye on its star player.

With the past few rounds becoming vital for Lauderdale, coach Darren Winter won’t be resting Boscott or any of his team unless they really need it.

“We decided as a team we won’t be resting anyone in the last few games,” Winter said. “We are not in a position to rest anyone.”

There has been talk recently that AFL clubs are interested in Boscott, and Winter says there has been interest from Port Adelaide.

“We’ve had direct contact by one of the recruiting officers for down here,” Winter said.

“Hopefully he [Boscott] can continue to play some good footy and get noticed.”

The predicted wet conditions for the Round 18 clash will not help Boscott’s calf or his side’s percentage.

Glenorchy is two wins behind Lauderdale, which sits in third spot, but the Magpies’ healthy percentage is dangerous for Lauderdale.

Winter doesn’t believe his side will be closing the gap on Glenorchy’s percentage tomorrow, rather he will be happy to just come away with a win.

“I think there are 40 to 50mm [rain] predicted on Friday and Saturday,” Winter said.

“I’m expecting it will be a bit of a slog up there.”

With Boscott expected to play, the only change for Lauderdale will be onballer Phil Bellchambers out with bleeding to his eye in last week’s game.

Glenorchy welcomes back skipper Brayden Webb from an ankle injury, but has lost onballer Zac Webster for its clash with Launceston at KGV in a game that will help cement the top five.

If Launceston wins it will make it hard for the Hobart City Demons to pass it, with the Dees having the bye this weekend.

Glenorchy can keep a top-three spot alive with a win.

The Tigers take on Devonport in Devonport and the Tigers will again be without their recruit Daniel Archer, who is overcoming a knee injury.
