Rosny values its multicultural community
ROSNY College is proud of being a multicultural and inclusive community.
The student and staff body consists of people from many different cultures and countries, all of whom contribute to the school’s learning environment in many ways. Our English as an Additional Language (EAL) department supports students who attend Rosny College as international students here to study and live, exchange students in Tasmania for a cultural and educational experience, as well as humanitarian refugees who now call Hobart home.
The school offers these students extra support with their studies through a tutor program and a pastoral care approach, as many students search for a place to study and live between two cultures.
Engaging students in new opportunities that they may not have previously experienced is a high priority.
Rosny is currently hosting students from countries including from Nepal, Brazil, Afghanistan, Kenya, Switzerland and Italy.
The college values its multicultural community, acknowledging this through several annual focus events to highlight Rosny’s diversity and bring the school body together.
These events include Harmony week activities, as well as an international dinner, camp and international food fair where the EAL students prepare and share food and stories, providing endless learning opportunities for all involved.
