OK folks, it’s time for a moving experience

-

WORLD music band Xenos plan to steal your heart — and get your feet moving — with their captivating rhythms and seductive sax solos when they perform at next weekend’s Balkan Gypsy Dance in Hobart.

Playing the traditional music of Macedonia, Greece and neighbouring countries, Xenos have been touring Europe and Australia for more than 20 years, getting dance floors jumping wherever they go.

They were based in Zurich for six years, during which time they toured Europe extensively, performing at festivals in France, Germany, Scotland, Portugal, Greece and Romania.

Xenos then spent six years in Melbourne, before returning to Hobart.

In Australia, they’ve played at events including WOMADelaide and the National, Woodford, Port Fairy and Cygnet folk festivals.

The Folk Federation of Tasmania presents the Balkan Gypsy Dance, featuring music by Xenos, at Wesley Hall in Melville Street, Hobart, from 7.30pm next Saturday (September 30).

All ages are welcome and all dances will be taught on the night, with no dancing experience or partner required.

Tickets are $17 for adults, $15 concession, $14 for Folk Federation members, and $8 for students. For more information go to www.folktas.org, email folkdancetas@gmail.com, or phone 6273 2127.
