Shining a light on talent
GK PRODUCTIONS was established in 2012 by local industry veteran Gareth Kays, who has more than 20 years experience working in the entertainment industry.
GK Productions provides technical design, installation, sales and production services across Tasmania.
GK Productions works with schools, theatres and other venues to meet their technical requirements in the fields of sound, lighting, audio-visual and staging equipment, from drama rooms through to complete theatres and auditoriums.
“We also install a lot of sound systems in halls and gymnasiums, providing high quality sound reinforcement in these large reverberant spaces,” Mr Kays said.
“Providing intelligible audio within a learning environment is incredibly important, whether it be for an assembly, a presentation or a complete school production.”
The core of our service revolves around liaising with school staff, architects and consultants to iron out potential issues with venue design and layout.
We work right through to equipment selection and eventual fit out, commission- ing and training. “It is vital that the systems installed are fitfor-purpose, user-friendly and can be operated in a simple manner with minimal training for everyday use,” he said.
“This requires our involvement right at the initial planning stages when creating a new facility or upgrading an old one.”
GK Productions also stock a large range of everyday consumables including theatre lamps, coloured gel, audio leads, connectors, power cables, gaffer and other speciality tapes.
We work at all levels from small school productions and arts evenings through to providing lighting for some of the largest live theatre shows in Tasmania such as Wicked and Rock of Ages at the Hobart Theatre Royal, and audio and lighting for events such as Carols by Candlelight.
“I believe one of the greatest strengths in my business is I care about what we do and I have great pride in my work,” Gareth said.
“I work hard to establish a reputation for going that extra mile and I’m very proud of what we have achieved in our first five years.”
