Fear for gun promise

- F. A Westcott Lutana Jean Harrison Kingston David Keyes Austins Ferry

close friends, are foreign countries to each other. How many independent countries have a prominent quarter of their flag covered by the flag of a foreign country? On numerous state occasions we fly two flags, one for Australia and one for the flag of the original inhabitants. This must be confusing to the rest of the world and gives the impression of a divided country. Why not replace the English flag with the flag of the original inhabitants and form a flag all parties can accept and result in a truly uniting Australian flag at last.

Whole new level

FAR out! As if watering down the gun laws, directly attacking democracy by punitive punishment of protesters and allowing the increasing damage of pokies to play out to 2024 weren’t enough, now we have the government wanting to oust the Legislative Council (a house of review voted in by the people, for the protection of the people). The reason? It was getting in the way of getting their legislation and agendas passed. This takes arrogance to a whole new level.

Starts in school

SINCE it has now been shown that the democratic procedures of voting can be, and are, manipulated at will, and that elected governments do not necessarily reflect the will of the governed, the only realistic response is to outlaw the pernicious systems that make influence of the indifferent or uninformed vote so easy, and to vary school curriculums to embody a clear understanding of the importance of the entitlement of all citizens to select those AS the police logistics commander during Port Arthur, I know what military style guns can do. I’ve also spent the longest 20 minutes of my life looking down the wrong end of one, so of course I support the National Firearms Agreement. But I also know you can’t shoot a feral deer with a .22 bunny gun. Our farmers need these tools for animal control but I fear the Liberals are going to water and breaking the first of their election promises?
