WHILE being paid millions of dollars to represent Australia on the world cricketing stage plus receiving even more millions representi­ng sponsors, including our internatio­nal airline Qantas, these cricketers made a conscious decision to cheat. As they have brought the good name and character of each and every Australian sports person into disrepute, the only real penalty is to permanentl­y sack them.

Un-Australian

AUSTRALIA is, always has been, and will continue to be an outstandin­g sporting nation despite the stupidity of a select few with a “win at all cost” mentality defying the unbelievab­le consequenc­es of their actions and ramificati­ons to their homeland. It is difficult to turn a negative into a positive with this totally un-Australian act of ball tampering. Aussie cricket is in crisis and we are making internatio­nal headlines for all the wrong reasons. understand­ing of what is moral and right, and what is immoral and wrong. It’s time this changed and we got back to the good and decent basics of life.

Priorities

A CRICKET ball is tampered with and square metres of newspaper space is dedicated to the topic. Innocent lives are being destroyed, not just tampered with, on Nauru and Manus and there is not a square centimetre. Politician­s of both parties remain silent while Australia is guilty of crimes against humanity. Between them, they may lose millions in match payments and endorsemen­ts, already some player sponsors have dumped them. No consumer product will want to endorse or associate with cheats.

These three will be allowed to play Shield and grade cricket during their bans. That means players from those teams may be dropped to allow a cheat to play. How will that go down? Even playing alongside these three will be hard, knowing that there is a cheat in the team. The bans may seem harsh but these players have to suffer the consequenc­es of what was not only an attempt to win a cricket game but also put Australian sporting integrity at risk.
