Man held after car abandoned

A MAN was being questioned by police last night after he was arrested 10km from where a car used to evade police was abandoned.

Officers tried to pull the blue Toyota Yaris over, in relation to a criminal offence, on the Brooker Highway in New Town just before 11am yesterday.

The driver failed to stop and the car was later found abandoned in the car park at Risdon Brook Dam.

A search involving multiple police resources was launched to find the male driver who had fled the scene.

A man was last night arrested in Old Beach and was assisting police.

The incident comes a week after a man and woman were arrested after they allegedly evaded police in an allegedly stolen car worth more than $40,000 in Rokeby.
