Mercury (Hobart)

The champ

AT 44 years of age Craig Lowndes goes around a racetrack at 300km/h and is still winning. What a champion.

Immunisation

LABOR Leader Rebecca White should get the thumbs up from all medicos in her “Push for free flu shots” ( Mercury, April 16), given the gravity of last year’s flu season, the loss of life to many elderly Tasmanians, and the cost to our public health system. If Rebecca is correct that it would cost about $2 million a year to provide immunisation to so many, surely this must be an initiative seriously taken on board.

Get real

WITH more pop-up tent sites appearing around Hobart ( Mercury, April 16) due to the lack of affordable housing, it’s obvious the Hodgman Government is only interested in throwing valuable taxpayer funds at wealthy landlords and the gaming industry. Start by regulating Airbnb by banning all stand-alone investment properties involved.

Cable crippled

I SUGGEST the Nomenclature Board proceed quickly to rename our interconnector (oxymoron!) Basslimp.
