Gutsy girls on the big screen

ADRENALINE-FUELLED female stories of courage, grit and determinat­ion will hit the big screen in Hobart next week.

Designed to shine the spotlight on the female adventure experience, the 2018 Gutsy Girls Adventure Film Tour showcases the exploits of strong, inspiratio­nal, adventurou­s women of the outdoor world.

Focused on redefining femininity in adventure and championin­g female athletes, the films on this year’s program are sure to entertain, enthral and enlighten, with everyone from hardcore adventurer­s to armchair experts able to:

meet three inspiring Nepali women spreading the joy of mountain biking across the Himalayas in Moksha;

get to know a crew of slackliner­s making a difference in Lebanon in Crossing Lines;

gain an insight into life on the road with Australian adventure photograph­er and filmmaker Krystle Wright in In Perpetual Motion;

join four profession­al skiers roughing it in the untouched back-country of Canada in Beyond The Walls;

explore mountains with tenacious French climbers Marion Poitevin, Liv Sansoz and Martina Cufar-Potard in Women’s Ways; and

follow US skier Caroline Gleich as she chases her dream of tackling 90 treacherou­s ski runs across Utah’s Wasatch Mountains in Follow Through.

The Gutsy Girls Adventure Film Tour will screen in The Tramsheds at Inveresk from 7pm next Friday, July 20; and at The Friends’ School’s Farrall Centre in North Hobart from 8.30pm on Saturday the 21st.
