Bogut already making a difference
ANDREW Bogut has only been at the Sydney Kings for a month but he is already making a profound impact on the franchise, on and off the floor.
Bogut’s proven skills and vocal presence have been there for everyone to see during his first two pre-season games against Japan and Saint Mary’s.
Talk to those inside the Kings camp and the ex-NBA big man is equally potent in the entrepreneurial space. This was on show at the team’s preseason camp last week when Bogut took charge during an honesty session between the players and staff.
Kings interim CEO Paul Kind was highly impressed with the former No.1 draft pick’s people skills.
“Andrew led the player report back to the staff — he was very good,” Kind said. “As part of the working session, we talked about the expectation the team has of the staff and the expectation we have of them. It was a very honest session and Andrew excelled. He is very interested in the business side of the franchise and I think he’ll make a great contribution.”
Bogut’s impact on the Kings’ business doesn’t stop with a vocal voice. The 13-season NBA veteran has already started helping the franchise with merchandise ideas while he is also keen to promote the team’s rivalries through the media.
Kind believes Bogut’s passion for business will pave the way for him to one day take on a share of the club.
Bogut’s contract includes a 10 per cent share in the Kings.
