Artists set sights on taking over

TASMANIAN talent is set to take over Salamanca on Saturday.

Playing their part in the Founders Room Takeover at Salamanca Place will be The Saxons, Kat Edwards, The Tinderboxe­rs, Alex Vann and Ani Lou.

There will be an all-ages show in the afternoon, and an 18+ event in the evening.

Launceston indie/ alternativ­e rockers The Saxons (Nick Bennett, Bradley Martin, Tom Youd and Josh McDonald-Davies) are playing some Tasmanian shows before they tour nationally later this year.

Founded in 2014, The Saxons have shared a stage with major Australian acts such as Kingswood, British India and The Smith Street Band, as well as appearing at Falls Festival and Party in the Paddock.

The Tinderboxe­rs (Alex Buktenica, Sorin Vanzino, Will Squires and Jes Lewincamp) are another four-piece indie-rock band who first got together last year.

Ani Lou and Kat Edwards are Hobart-based singersong­writers, while Alex Vann is an alternativ­e musician.

The Founders Room Takeover will be held at the Salamanca Arts Centre from 3pm (all-ages) and 8pm (18+) Saturday. The Saxons, Kat Edwards, The Tinderboxe­rs, and Alex Vann are playing the all-ages event, while The Saxons, Kat Edwards, and Ani Lou will perform at the 18+ gig.

Tickets are $10 for the afternoon show, and $15 for the evening gig. available at the door.
