Improvised way to chill out
VIOLINIST
Susanna Ferrar will share the experience of her improvised performance at Hut Point in Antarctica at her Paths are made by walking: Free improvisation in
Antarctica presentation in Hobart on Wednesday.
Ferrar’s performance took place in the hut built by members of Scott’s discovery expedition between 1901-1904, which included Ferrar’s grandfather, geologist H.T. Ferrar.
Ferrar’s improvised performance was filmed and will be screened as part of her presentation.
The presentation is in association with the Tasmanian Chapter of Musicological Society of Australia and the Tasmania Conservatorium of Music. It will be at the Conservatorium Lecture Theatre, Room 113, in Sandy Bay Rd at 10am on Wednesday. Entry is free.
