Archer avoids conviction
FORMER AFL star Glenn Archer is looking forward to “getting on with his life” after successfully appealing his conviction for punching a runner in the face at a junior footy match.
The two-time premiership player yesterday pleaded guilty in the County Court of Victoria to the as- sault at his son’s under-15s match in Melbourne in June 2017. He did so after the prosecution and his legal team struck a deal that he would escape conviction. He was handed a 12-month good-behaviour bond and ordered to pay $2000 to charity and $955 in victim compensation.
