Give top teams a second chance

-

AFTER most of the tournament at the top of the table the Hurricanes are eliminated after only one loss in post-season. This is unique in the Australian sporting landscape as most Australian sports adopted some of the McIntyre finals system, which rewards top sides with a second chance. Hobart has been victim at home and villain in Perth in the last two seasons while r making the final in 2012-2013 after having a losing season of 3-4 with one no result.

Maybe after eight seasons it’s time for Cricket Australia to fix a problem in its cash-cow tournament where a team that plays winning cricket for the entire season but has a bad day in the semi has the same chances as a team that plays 50-50 cricket, until it comes times to make the finals using its Test stars to sneak into the finals with a last-game win followed by a win in the semi, with no way to equal the minor premier’s win tally from the season (10-5 compared to 10-6 or 9-7 for the winning Melbourne team).
