Careless hit costs Carlton’s Harris

- MICHAEL RANDALL

CARLTON star Tayla Harris can accept a suspension after she collected Giant Pepa Randall during the Blues’ win over GWS as the busy MRO laid seven charges against six players from the weekend’s games.

Demon Tegan Cunningham, Crow Chloe Scheer and Docker Hayley Miller have also been offered bans in exchange for early guilty pleas.

Harris booted three goals and ripped down six marks in a dominant performance as the Blues recorded their highest ever AFLW score in a 10.5 (65) to 5.6 (36) win at Blacktown International Sportspark on Sunday. But it was soured in the last quarter when she ran past the footy to collect Randall, conceding after the game it “probably looks bad”.

Match review officer Mi- chael Christian agreed, offering the aspiring boxer a onematch ban for an early plea of guilt, which would put her out of Saturday’s trip to meet the Cats at GMHBA Stadium.

Harris said after the game the contact was not intentional. “I know Pepa so … clearly (it was) not intentional. I just hope she’s OK,” Harris said on the Seven broadcast.

Former WNBL player Cunningham is also in hot water after a fiery contest with Brisbane’s Shannon Campbell during Melbourne’s win at Hickey Park.

The tattooed starlet faced two charges, one of striking and one of rough conduct.
