Kingston woman’s $1.6m win

- JAMES KITTO

A KINGSTON woman who bought a Tattslotto ticket as a spur-of-the-moment decision while out shopping is $1.6 million richer after a winning the division one prize.

The woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous, said she was in shock to find out her ticket had netted her more than $1.6 million.

“I can’t believe it,” she said. “I only play every now and then and usually grab a QuickPick. I only bought into this because I was right next to the shop.”

Her winning entry was purchased at Channel Newsworld, Channel Court Shopping Centre, in Kingston.

“We don’t have internet at the moment and I hadn’t read the paper so I had no idea there was a winner in the area,” she said. “I just came into the store to check my ticket.”

When asked how she would spend her winnings she said she hadn’t yet got her head around the win. “We need a new car and there are a few things around the house we need to fix up but after that, I really don’t know,” she said.

Channel Newsworld Lotto business partner Mike Ditcham said he was thrilled the winning entry had been claimed.
