Bachelor star lets loose on airline

- JAMES KITTO

JETSTAR has defended the extended delay for passengers and eventual cancellation of a flight from Hobart airport on Sunday, after former Bachelor Sam Wood took to Instagram to unleash on the airline.

The airline was forced to cancel one of its flights to Melbourne on Sunday, citing an engineering fault, after Wood, his family and other passengers were left waiting up to six hours at the Hobart terminal.

“Seriously, why would anyone in their right mind fly this airline?” Wood said. “Six hour delay, no comms (communication), condescending staff that, to be frank, were a little incompetent and then completely unapologetic.”

Jetstar yesterday told the Mercury it was working to improve operations across all its Australian terminals. “We apologise for the delay while our engineers worked to fix the issue, and we provided all our customers with alternative fights,” the spokesman said.

A Qantas flight also was reportedly delayed this week, for four hours, with engineering issues to blame.
