ASIC gets tough

THE corporate watchdog has revealed it has almost 40 investigations and reviews into alleged corporate civil and criminal breaches under way in the wake of the banking royal commission. The Australian Securities and Investments Commission has pointed to a 50 per cent increase in probes into big institutions in its formal response to the royal commission. It is also seeking more stable funding.
