Plans for European-style square
THE team behind the Kingston Green development has an out-of-the-box idea that would certainly put the subdivision on the map.
If approved by council, they would essentially be building Kingston’s own version of Salamanca Square.
Project manager Eliza Gray said their vision was to build a commercial precinct at the Channel Highway end of the 9.5ha site that would be designed around a Europeanstyle square.
“It would encompass shops, cafes, restaurants, entertainment such as a cinema and perhaps a minisupermarket,” she said.
“Subject to council approval it would be designed to help minimise traffic noise into the residential area.
“Ideally, I would like to have plans underway and council approval in place within the next few years.”
Kingston Green has been a family project for years, with Eliza’s father the driving force when it started 15 years ago.
Most recently they have been selling Stage 4A of the subdivision in Eleni Avenue.
Nest Property consultant Todd Pepper said of the stage’s 17 blocks, 12 had already been sold.
“It has been a big week, actually, with six sales already,” he said.
“There are multiple things that set this development apart, such as the commercial precinct vision for the future, which gives buyers confidence in the value of these properties.
“They have also designed traffic calming roads with coloured footpaths and long nature strips.
“Even the street lights were well considered, imported from Germany and designed to aim 85 per cent of the light on to the street.”
Mr Pepper said in Stage 4A most blocks had been bought by downsizers however the area appeals to a broad range of buyers, including singles, young families and investors.
The allotments range from about 345sqm to 585sqm and start from $185,000.
The location is nearby Bunnings Warehouse, Mertonvale Circuit, local supermarkets, shops and a pool.
Amenities in the area include a creche on Alfreds Garden and Bishop Davies Court for low- and high-needs aged care.
