Dale Elphinstone AO Mr Elphinstone of Burnie has been honoured for distinguished service to business, particularly to the resources and manufacturing sectors, and to the community of Tasmania. He is the founder and executive chairman of the Elphinstone Group since founding the heavy equipment company in 1975. Ian Johnston AO Mr Johnston of Bruny Island has been honoured for distinguished service to classical literature through the translation and interpretation of Ancient Greek and Chinese texts. He has worked as a translator of classical Greek and Chinese literature including selections from Gu Yanwu’s Record of Daily Knowledge, 2017. John Ramsay AM Mr Ramsay of Sandy Bay has been honoured for significant service to public administration in Tasmania. He has worked as Tasmanian Planning Commission commissioner since 2010 and was governing council chair of the Tasmanian Health Service between 2015-2018. David Smart AM Dr Smart has been honoured for his significant service to hyperbaric medicine and to professional organisations. ations. Andrew Spate AM Mr Spate of Kingston has been honoured for his significant service to o conservation, particularly to caves and karsts. He has served as the Australasian n Cave and Karst Management anagement Association president since last year and also spent five years in the role from 1991. Geraldine Brown OAM Mrs Brown of Hillwood has been honoured for her service to the sport of badminton since the 1990s. Between 2008-2018 she served as Badminton Australia president. Kim Brundle-Lawrence OAM Mrs Brundle-Lawrence of Carrick has been honoured for her service to the community of Northern Tasmania, having served a number of emergency service roles. She has served as Carrick Fire Brigade secretary and as leading firefighter there since 2001-2. Ross Doddridge OAM Mr Doddridge of Lenah Valley has been honoured for his service to the community through a range of organisations including Tasmanian Ambulance Service and the Bridgewater Veterans’ Memorial Centre. He has chaired Community Based Support Services since 2009. Robert Fahey OAM Mr Fahey of Mt Stuart has been honoured for his service to Real Tennis — one of the oldest sporting clubs in the Southern hemisphere which started in Hobart in 1875. Joan Fazackerley OAM Mrs Fazackerley of Nubeena has been honoured for her service to her local community. From 1996 to 2014 she served as councillor on the Tasman Council. She has also been a supporter for the Nubeena Regatta and Sailing Club. Joseph Eric Gelston (deceased) OAM Recognised for his service to amateur radio, Mr Gelston was involved with the Tamar Sea Rescue Services Inc as a volunteer and helped establish a UHF-CB repeater on Flinders Island. James Stephen Gibson OAM President of Rowing Tasmania since 2013, Mr Gibson has been awarded an OAM for service to rowing. He is a former president of St. Patrick’s Rowing Club and ex-chairman of Tamar Rowing Club, having been involved in the sport for nearly 50 years. Mervyn Clyde Gordon OAM Mr Gordon has been recognised for service to the community through a range of organisations, including the Cathedral Church of St David in Hobart, where he has been verger since 2008 and the Tasmanian Floral Art Society. Tony Tasman Harrison OAM The former Cricket Tasmania chairman has been honoured for his service to the sport, 10 years after the International Cricket Council awarded him its centenary medal. Una Margaret Hobday OAM A Rotarian for decades in both Western Australia and Tasmania, Ms Hobday has been recognised for her service to the community through a range of organisations. William Ernest Kaine OAM The former RSL Tasmania president has been recognised for his service to veterans and their families. Mr Kaine, from the state’s North-Wes North-West, has been an RSL
membe member since 1974. Ma Margot Elizabeth Lampkin O OAM Mrs Lampkin founded Choral Productions Tasmania m in 1997 and has been b its musical director and a conductor ever since. Ian I Verco OAM O President Preside Presi of successful Tasmanian community c organisation Rural Alive and Well since 2010, Mr McMichael has been recognised for his service to community health in rural areas. McMichael Eric Mitchell OAM Mr Mitchell was the foundation president of the Tasmanian Music Teachers Association and spent 17 years as a music lecturer on the Tasmanian Adult Education Board. He has been recognised for his service to music education. Lindsay Keith Morgan OAM A Rotarian, Beyond Blue ambassador, and volunteer with the Ulverstone Junior Soccer Club, Mr Morgan has been recognised for his service to his town and the communities of North-Western Tasmania. Roy William Preece (deceased) OAM The late Mr Preece was national president of Meals on Wheels and spent 15 years at the helm of the organisation’s Tasmanian branch. Bernard James Pryor OAM Mr Pryor is a published author and has been a member of several organisations dedicated to horticulture, including the Iris Society of Australia, of which he is a life member. Judy Tierney OAM A veteran journalist of the ABC from 1968 to 2006, Ms Tierney reported for the 7.30 Report and Australian Story during her career, winning an award for excellence in environmental reporting and the Keith Welsh Award for journalism. David Maxwell Waddle OAM Mr Waddle has been recognised for his service to veterans and their families, which includes his role as an advocate on the Veterans Review Board and as a pensions officer and welfare officer for the RSL South Arm sub-branch.
