TASMANIA’s dancing queens have a dream that the local producers of the hugely popular theatre show, Mamma Mia!, will take a chance on them.

The Show Company is bringing Mamma Mia! to Hobart’s Theatre Royal in January and February next year, with auditions to be held next month.

“We are very excited by the number and calibre of people already making inquiries,” said Mark Wojcik, production manager with the Show Company.

“We can’t wait to see that fantastic talent at auditions on the weekend of July 13 and 14.

“We’re looking for energetic and engaging performers who love being showcased in largescale musicals.

“This will be a very special experience for performers.”

Mamma Mia! has become one of the most popular shows of modern times, having already been performed for more than 60 million fans around the world.

It is set on a Greek island and combines 22 of ABBA’s bestknown hits with high-energy dance routines.

Choreographer Leiz Moore said the show was “infectious” and audiences would want to sing

and dance along with the music.

The Show Company has previously staged the critically acclaimed and award-winning productions of Wicked in 2017, and Mary Poppins last year.

Mamma Mia! will be staged at Hobart’s Theatre Royal from January 17 until February 1.
