Farnesy brings a touch of paradise to Falls

- PATRICK GEE

COMEBACK king and iconic singer John Farnham will make his Falls Festival debut this summer, with the line-up of artists set to make the trip to Marion Bay revealed yesterday morning.

Farnham — perhaps best known for his hit song You’re The Voice — will be joined by the likes of US megastar Halsey, English house stars Disclosure and Australian duo Peking Duk at this summer’s festival.

Halsey’s recent single Nightmare charted in the top 15 in the US and has received massive radio play.

The Falls Music and Arts Festival started 27-years-ago in Lorne before spreading to Byron Bay, Fremantle, and Marion Bay in Southern Tasmania.

Thousands of music lovers flock to the three-day festivals across the country each year to bring in the New Year.

Other artists among the 28 announced so far to play at Marion Bay include Vampire Weekend, Pnau, Milky Chance, Vera Blue, Yungblud, and G Flip.

Australian rockers Wolfmother will make a special guest appearance only in Tasmania.

Electronic pop duo Peking Duk, known for tracks like High, Stranger, Say My Name and Fake Magic, were a hit with crowds when they brought in the New Year at Marion Bay in 2017-18.

Half of the hit-making machine, Adam Hyde, has since told the Mercury that performing at Falls Festival Marion Bay “was beautiful”.

“We had never been out there before and that was the best place ever to do New Years,” he said.

Tickets go on sale from 9am, Wednesday, August 14.
