-

TASMANIA’S all-conquering hockey champ Eddie Ockenden has returned home to front up for the Tassie Tigers in tonight’s Hockey One match against the Adelaide Fire. “We’re really pushing people who may not have experienced hockey to come along,” he said. You can watch tonight’s games — and all Hockey One match-ups — live on Kayo.

THE Hockey One entertainment road show rolls into town today with the Tassie Tigers men and women out to extinguish the Adelaide Fire in a blockbuster double-header.

Hockey One is real hockey. Reimagined. The non-stop action starts at 5pm with former Hockeyroo Amelia Spence returning home to lead our women’s hockey revolution, before Australian captain Eddie Ockenden propels the men’s team at 6.30pm.

Tigers foundation memberships and grandstand seated tickets have been hot property, but sports fans can still grab limited grandstand seating and general admission tickets from Ticketek online or at the gate until sold out.

WORLD No.1 Ashleigh Barty has booked a spot in the China Open semi-finals for the first time, beating Petra Kvitova 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Two-time Wimbledon champion and No.7 seed Kvitova went into the quarter-final with a 4-1 head-to-head advantage over Barty. But Australia’s reigning French Open champion made it two wins in a row over Kvitova in a suspenseful match that lasted 2hrs 8min in Beijing. It continued her solid run of form in China after reaching the semifinals at the Wuhan Open last week.

Barty blasted her way to victory with 31 winners against just 20 unforced errors, while Kvitova fired 36 winners to 28 unforced errors. The result was determined by success on break points and Barty won half of hers.
