Teen sex dad avoids jail
A 35-YEAR-old Tasmanian father with an IQ of 55 has avoided jail after admitting he had sex with a 13-year-old child.
In October 2016, Aland Clenton Storay had “consensual” sex with the girl, Supreme Court of Tasmania Justice Michael Brett said late last week.
Storay, who is in a relationship with a young woman and has a seven-year-old child, also has never held paid employment. Justice Brett said Storay’s low IQ affected his “capacity for reasoning, problem-solving and identifying and responding to risks and other life problems”. He was given a 12-month suspended jail term after Justice Brett said prison would be “far more difficult and traumatic” for him than a person with a higher IQ.
