Banking scam resurfaces
HUNDREDS of people have been hit with the latest round of text spam alerts, falsely claiming to be from the NAB.
The texts are sent randomly to customers and non-customers, urging the users to click on a link to a fake website to confirm their details. The spam scam is the latest version of a year-long phishing campaign.
NAB say they are constantly trying to shut the fake sites down.
The messages warn the person’s account may be locked, and directs them to click on a link to unlock it.
NAB’s chief enterprise security officer David Fairman said the bank’s anti-fraud experts provided advice to more than 3000 customers about cyber safety.
