Bushfire smoke chokes Sydney

Mercury (Hobart) - - NEWS -

THICK bushfire smoke blanketing Sydney has made the NSW capital’s air quality worse than some of the world’s most polluted cities.

The thick smog shrouding Sydney, from a southerly wind fanning the 78 bushfires raging across NSW, has brought pollution to “hazardous” levels, dragging the city’s air quality to a global low. The level of pollutants in the air is so high the city has tipped Jakarta’s record-breaking pollution levels.
