Activists picket country rodeo

Mercury (Hobart) - - NEWS -

PROTESTERS have braved monsoonal-like rains to picket a rodeo west of Canberra.

Animal rights activists held signs like “Their fear, your fun. WTF?” and “Roped, slammed, choked”, outside the Queanbeyan Rodeo near Bungendore yesterday.

Events included calf roping, in which riders compete to lasso and hogtie a calf by three legs in the shortest time.

Animal Justice Party member Chris Sutevski said such “entertainment” was “not necessary these days”.
