Late scoring spree seals big Kingboroug­h triumph

IN a replay of last year’s grand final in Bowls Tasmania South’s Premier Division on Saturday, Kingboroug­h went on a scoring spree towards the end of the game, eventually beating Sandy Bay by 23 shots.

Taelyn Male was too good for Keegan Booth, winning by 13 shots. Dave McLean had a tight tussle early against Ryan McCoull who was in front after 13 ends only to see McLean win six of the final eight ends to win by nine shots.

Jason Fowler and Andrew Norris had a great game, with Fowler jumping out of the blocks to lead by eight shots after 11 ends. Norris steadied and clawed this lead back to four shots with four ends to play only to lose a four on the 18th end which enabled Fowler to win by six, Sandy Bay salvaged two points, with Bryce Guy defeating Will Coad.

Brighton had a convincing 22-shot all-rinks win over Buckingham. Grant Wakefield led all day and had a comfortabl­e eight-shot win over Isaac Maughan. Ricky Limbrick jumped out to an early 10-shot lead over Mick Taylor before winning by seven. Mick Daniels defeated Alvin Cooke by four shots. Greg Fehlberg led by nine over Don Holland early on before Holland fought back in the second half of the game to reduce the winning margin to three shots.

Rosny Park and Dover RSL had a close battle all day, with Rosny Park winning by 15.

Peter Bannister defeated Chris Norris by 16 shots which was the difference between the two teams. David Genford held off a late challenge from Roger Dale to win by three and Mick Sweeney beat Ricky Ormerod by one.

Beltana had a five-shot win over Howrah. Mick Coppleman defeated John Sutcliffe by 22 shots and Steve Midson beat Graham Rowbottom by five shots. Howrah won on the other two rinks, with Peter Jenkins defeating Owen O’Driscoll by 11 and Morgan Williams beating Shane Young by the same margin.

Glenorchy Rodman beat New Norfolk by 29 shots. Cam Tegg defeated Wayne Lampkin by 21, Steve Clifford beat Barry Bone by four, Luke Turner defeated Greg Kingston by two and Josh Baker finished two shots in front of Kerry Hill.
