Women to converge on club for Stableford
TASMANIA Golf Club is set to host 62 women representing 31 clubs entered in the 2019 Bronze Stableford event next Monday.
The popular event will tee off at 8am on November 11 with local members Sally Koltoft and Carol Field leading the field. The championship is contested over 18 holes by teams of two with the winning team being that with the highest aggregate Stableford total. Richmond Golf Club was victorious at Launceston in 2018 and will this year be represented by Lynette Munnings and Alison Salter.
THE Southern Country Golf Association will conduct the association’s Interclub Championship at the Tea Tree Golf Club this Sunday.
The event will see 10 clubs represented by teams of three in an aggregate Stableford event. Tea Tree Golf Club is expected to perform strongly on home soil but can expect tough opposition from New Town Bay and Richmond.
NEW South Wales’ Doey Choi is taking the New Zealand Women’s Amateur crown back to Australia for the first time in 19 years.
The regulation 36-hole final wasn’t enough to separate Choi and New Zealand’s Caryn Khoo, who were tied after regulation play at Remuera Golf Club in Auckland.
They needed two extra holes for a winner to be decided, and par was good enough for the Sydneysider to claim one of the biggest wins of her career so far.
Choi becomes the first Australian winner of the event since fellow New South Wales golfer Carlie Butler (now Hoysted) at Huapai, north of Auckland, in 2000.
