Barty and Perry vie for award

ASH­LEIGH Barty and Ell­yse Perry are among the lead­ing can­di­dates to be voted per­son­al­ity of the year at the AIS Sport per­for­mance awards.

Ten­nis world No.1 Barty and cricket star Perry are two of 12 nom­i­nees for the sport per­son­al­ity of the year award, with both also short­listed for the sport­ing mo­ment of the year award.

Other nom­i­nees for the sport per­son­al­ity of the year in­clude cricket ace Steve Smith, NRL premier­ship win­ner James Tedesco and ma­jor golf cham­pion Han­nah Green.

Barty has been nom­i­nated for the best sport­ing mo­ment for be­com­ing the first Aus­tralian French Open sin­gles cham­pion in 46 years; Perry is nom­i­nated for her star­ring role in the Aus­tralian women’s cricket team’s Ashes win.

Green’s win at the Women’s PGA Cham­pi­onship, Syd­ney Roost­ers’ back-to-back NRL flags, the Boomers’ vic­tory over the US in Mel­bourne and Kelsey-Lee Bar­ber’s golden javelin throw at the world ath­let­ics cham­pi­onships are some of the other mo­ments to make the mo­ment of the year list.
