THE CEO of Megavar Power Engineering has lost his driver’s licence after drink driving at twice the legal limit and weaving through Hobart traffic.

Matthew John Geoghegan, 46, faced the Hobart Magistrates Court yesterday after he was nabbed with a blood alcohol reading of 0.121 while driving 100km/h in a 70km/h zone. The court was told Geoghegan was caught by police on September 28 after he was spotted weaving in and out of other cars on the Tasman Highway.

He pleaded guilty to one count of driving over the prescribed alcohol limit and one count of exceeding the speed limit. Geoghegan was convicted, fined $540 and disqualified from driving for 20 months.
