Driver pleads superstition

Mercury (Hobart) - - NEWS -

A SUPERSTITIOUS man on driving charges has declined to enter a plea before a Hobart magistrate because “I don’t like pleading guilty on the 13th”.

Alan William Jones faced the Hobart Magistrates Court yesterday charged with driving unlicensed, uninsured and in an unregistered car.

But he asked for an adjournment given the date was November 13. “It’s your unlucky day when a 13th falls on a Wednesday,” a bemused Magistrate Chris Webster replied to the man’s request.

“Anyone else got a superstition?” The case was adjourned to December 18.
