Bellerive assault charges
A SERIOUSLY injured Bellerive man found in a ute near the walking track adjacent to Rosny Esplanade was allegedly hit over the head with a tyre lever.
A 43-year-old NSW man was last night charged with wounding, assault, negligent driving and driving while disqualified. He was detained overnight and will appear before a Magistrate today.
Police were called to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in bushes near the walking track about 7am.
On arrival officers found the suspect and victim in a black Great Wall utility.
“One of them was a 43year-old Bellerive man who was found to have some reasonably serious head injuries,” Inspector Doug Rossiter said. “His injuries are consistent with being hit over the head with a tyre lever.
“They’re serious injuries but they’re not life threatening.”
The man was treated at the scene before being taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
