Fern Tree fire fuel risk

WHILE visiting areas of Fern Tree, I was gobsmacked, upset and angry to see so many houses presenting huge fire risks! All manner of rubbish, including large amounts of timber and firewood stacked right up against houses situated on thickly treed and uncleared bush blocks. No attempt had been made to clear overflowing and clogged roof gutters. I drove away in utter disbelief and thought how lazy, selfish and stupid some people are! Despite the plethora of warnings, bushfire tragedies in NSW, Queensland and Tasmania, people still choose to ignore the many warnings and free advice given by Tasmania Fire Service et al. It is your responsibility to make your property as fireproof as possible. Prevention begins at home!
