Toyota snares top car awards

Mercury (Hobart) - - NEWS - PATRICK GEE

THE “sleek and sick” Toyota GR Supra GTS took out its category in the Australia’s Best Cars review this year.

More than 180 cars tested on value for money, design and function, and on road performance.

RACT spokesman Darren Moody, one of eight judges from auto clubs across Australia, said safety was a key in the award.

The field was narrowed to 47 finalists, tested back-toback by the judges across 13 categories and evaluated against 21 criteria.

Mr Moody said Toyota was a big winner this year, winning five categories.

“Toyota’s ever-popular Corolla won a category for the first time,” he said.

The 2020 model Toyota Supra, pictured, took out the Best Sports Car between $62,000-$125,000 category.
