Mercury (Hobart) - - MOTORING -

For this series Mondeo, Ford has sold nearly 11,000 examples, the peak year being 2016 with 3122 sales. As the medium passenger car segment has contracted, this year’s tally to date is fewer than 600.

Among used listings, wagons have a slim majority over the liftback sedans and diesels far outnumber petrol examples. The mid-spec Trend accounts for only about half the number of the base Ambiente.

For 2015, the Ambiente petrol sedan ($33,190 new) is now valued at $15,500. The flagship Titanium diesel wagon ($49,340 new) is worth $22,650. In this year, the base version (price unchanged) is valued at $27,150 and the flagship ($49,840 new) fetches $39,200.

Competitors include the Toyota Camry, Mazda6, Subaru Liberty and VW Passat. Retained values for the Camry, Mazda6 and Liberty are better than the Mondeo’s for 201519. The Passat is on level terms for 2015 and only narrowly ahead for this year. Little separates the values for the liftback and wagon.
