Hobart already feels like home

Mercury (Hobart) - - NEWS -

IT’S only been three months since the Ryde family moved to Tasmania, but the former Melburnians are already loving Hobart life.

Bonnie and Nick Ryde and their sons Henry, 4 and Oscar, 2 moved to West Hobart and started a medical equipment distribution company True South Surgical.

“We like the Tasmanian lifestyle and it’s given us a nice work-life balance and it’s been great for the kids,” Mrs Ryde said.

Mrs Ryde said the tight housing market was perhaps the biggest challenge.

“If you don’t move quickly on a good property you miss out,” she said. We’ve spoken to agents when something comes up and they say they’ve already shown eight people through and the listing has only been online for 12 hours.”

The Rydes are keeping their options open for the long term in Tasmania.

“We’re looking at a minimum of six years and we’ll decided from there depending on how things are going with the kids and the business,” she said.

“We haven’t put a time limit on it.”
