We can’t afford so many hospitals

Mercury (Hobart) - - LETTERS -

ANDREW Wilkie is correct. Tasmania can’t afford four major public hospitals (Talking Point, November 22). The Latrobe hospital should have closed after Healthscope pulled out of their contract years ago. The Latrobe budget should shift accordingly across the three other hospitals. A total cultural change, including accountability for budgets to Treasury by those responsible is a must, if health services (including mental health) are to improve in this state.
