Blackmans Bay in shock at servo attack

A 41-year-old man has died after being stabbed in the stomach in a daylight incident at a Blackmans Bay service station.

A male youth was arrested at the scene and last night remained in police custody.

Police had responded to a report of a wounding at the Coles Express service station on Roslyn Ave just before 3pm.

Police had responded to a report of a wounding at the Coles Express service station on Roslyn Ave just before 3pm.

The victim was taken by ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital with a stab wound to the stomach.

He later died.

“Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this difficult time,” police said in a statement.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident who hasn’t already spoken with police should contact Hobart CIB on 131 444 or report anonymousl­y to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestopp­erstas.com.au.”

A crime scene was establishe­d at the service station, with uniform, CIB and forensics officers in attendance.

Operations at the service station were disrupted while investigat­ions were carried out.

However, the service station was operating as normal by 8pm after forensic officers had finished their assessment of the scene.

There were understood to have been a number of witnesses to incident.

Police are expected to release further informatio­n this morning.
