Mills helps Spurs snap run of losses

-

PATTY Mills sunk all five of his three-point attempts as the visiting San Antonio Spurs snapped an eightgame NBA losing streak with an 111-104 victory at the New York Knicks.

Australian guard Mills was perfect from beyond the arc to highlight his 17-point performance in 28 minutes.

LaMarcus Aldridge led the Spurs with 23 points and DeMar DeRozan collected 21 points and nine rebounds as the win ended San Antonio’s worst losing streak since the 1996-97 season.

Ben Simmons was the only Philadelphia 76ers starter not to reach double digits in points but still made an impact as he dished out seven assists and came up with four steals in a 113-86 rout of Miami Heat.

Hitting just two of his six shots, Simmons finished the game with just four points as Josh Richardson returned from injury to lead all scorers with 32 points.

Joel Embiid had 23 points and 11 rebounds, Tobias Harris scored 19 points and Al Horford had 16 as the Sixers (11-5) won their fourth in a row and improved to 7-0 at home.

Jimmy Butler was held to just 11 points in his first game back in Philadelphia since being traded in the off-season as part of a four-team deal that included Richardson.

There was no Aron Baynes (hip) or Ricky Rubio (back spasms) but the Phoenix Suns managed to pull off a thrilling 100-98 road win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. But sharpshooting Devin Booker had 35 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists as the Suns improved to 8-7.

Zach LaVine had a careerhigh 49 points, including the winning 3-pointer with 0.8 seconds left, to give the Chicago Bulls a 116-115 win over the Charlotte Hornets.

In Memphis, LeBron James scored 30 points as the Los Angeles Lakers escaped with a 109-108 victory over Memphis Grizzlies to sit at 14-2.

League MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo had 28 points and 10 rebounds to help the Milwaukee Bucks to a seventh win in a row, 104-90 over the Detroit Pistons.
