Pay turmoil for shoe retailer

Mercury (Hobart) - - TALKING POINT -

INVESTORS have sunk the boot into shoe retailer Accent Group, handing the Athlete’s Foot, Platypus and Hype owner a first strike on executive pay.

At the group’s annual meeting yesterday, about 38 per cent of votes were lodged against Accent’s remuneration report.

The vote came despite the Dr Martens, Vans, Timberland and Sketchers dealer reporting like-for-like retail sales growth.

The company’s total remuneration bill for 2019 was $5.16 million – 28 per cent lower than a year ago. Chief executive Daniel Agostinelli’s total remuneration package was $3.2 million.
