CAL­LUM Fer­gu­son has posted a half-cen­tury to give South Aus­tralia hope of pulling off vic­tory in their Sheffield Shield clash with West­ern Aus­tralia at the WACA Ground.

Chas­ing 345 runs for vic­tory, the Red­backs went to tea yes­ter­day at 2-131, with Fer­gu­son on 64 off 86 balls.

A min­i­mum of 42 more overs will be bowled, with the Red­backs re­quir­ing a fur­ther 213 runs. Tea was called when Jake Weather­ald fell for 63 off 75 balls, end­ing a 130-run stand with Fer­gu­son. Ear­lier, Shaun Marsh cracked an un­beaten 102 to lift WA to 6(dec)-205 in their se­cond in­nings.
