PRESIDENT ON THE DEFENSIVE ON TRIP TO THE PALACE
DONALD Trump received the Queen’s red carpet treatment for the second time in less than six months as the US President deflected questions about Prince Andrew and America’s plans for the UK’s public health service.
The Queen met with Mr Trump and his wife Melania, who was wearing a $9000 yellow Valentino coat, as world leaders gathered in London to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the NATO military alliance.
The Queen spent time chatting with Mrs Trump at the Buckingham Palace reception.
She also chatted to other leaders, including Germany’s Angela Merkel.
Prince Charles and Camilla,
and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, also gave the event some royal star power.
Mr Trump praised British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and promised British voters he was not interested in their treasured publicly funded National Health Service during an almost hour-long press conference yesterday.
He also said he “did not know” Prince Andrew – despite the pair being pictured together with notorious paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
