Leigh first past the Post at Champion of Champions

NEW Norfolk Golf Club’s Leigh Post won the A Grade Southern Country Champion of Champions event at Orford Golf Club last Sunday.

The 42-year-old defeated Tea Tree Golf Club’s Matthew Cross in a three-hole playoff after the pair finished on fiveover-par 75.

Iron Pot Golf Club’s Peter O’Keefe placed outright third on the leaderboar­d with an eight-over-par 78, followed closely by New Town Bay Golf Club’s Robert Salter and Richman’s mond’s Brett Adams in equal fourth on nine-over 79.

The B Grade championsh­ip was also decided in a playoff, with Dover Golf Club’s Gus Seabourne taking four holes to defeat Colebrook’s Ross McLean. Pittwater Golf Club’s Danny Munnings and Tas

Phil Wicks fired a pair of 88’s to finish two shots behind.

Elderslie Golf Club’s Kane Feathersto­ne collected the C Grade prize with a round of 88, six strokes ahead of Huon Valley’s Brendon Hills on 94.

New Norfolk again tasted success through Craig Youd, who picked up the senior division with a seven-over-par 77.

TASMANIANS Mathew Goggin and Simon Hawkes will be teeing up at the Emirates Australian Open this week, lining up alongside Australian­s such as Adam Scott, Marc Leishman and Cameron Smith, with Leishman and Smith still chasing their first Stonehaven Cup.

THE best performed players have been recognised following the 2019 Australian order of merit season.

Van Noord was the leading Tasmanian on the men’s order of merit at 66th.

Ulverstone’s Sarah Johnstone placed 42nd on the women’s.

Prospect’s Ryan Thomas was positioned sixteenth at the conclusion of the boy’s order of merit and Hallie Meaburn of Royal Hobart twentieth in the girls.

Tasmania Golf Club’s Ranald Allan was the leading senior male featuring at 69th on the final standings.
